During a busy stream, someone may post spam or abuse. Hosts and co-hosts can remove those messages while the stream is live.
Where this fits: there's no special moderation system for streams. It's the normal Chat moderation, on the stream's live chat. The right permissions come automatically with each person's credential.
- A host gets
ADMINchat scope. - A co-host gets
MODERATORchat scope.
Both are set for you when they're added as a host.
Delete a message
In the host's or co-host's app, delete a message by its id, for example from a "Remove" button next to each message:
await stream.chat.messages.delete('msg_3xR…');await stream.chat!.messages.delete('msg_3xR…');await stream.chat?.delete(messageId);The message disappears for everyone in the chat.
Viewers always have MEMBER scope. If a viewer tries to delete someone
else's message, it fails with the same PERMISSION_DENIED-style error as in
any normal conversation.
Not available yet
- No "mute" or "kick viewer". A viewer who already joined keeps access until they leave. To keep someone out next time, have your backend stop giving them viewer credentials.
- No way to disconnect one host. Removing a host takes them out of the chat and stops them from rejoining once their token expires, but doesn't cut off a host who is already broadcasting. To stop all broadcasting right away, end the stream.
